Terms of use
Last updated: 12 October 2026
1. Acceptance
By downloading, installing or using Qvault (“the Software”) you agree to these terms. They are an agreement between you and Santacroce SL, CIF B13886775, Madrid, Spain (“we”, “us”). If you do not agree, do not use the Software.
2. The Software
Qvault is free, open-source software for detecting and redacting personal data in documents. It is released under the MIT License and published for macOS, Windows and Linux. Document processing takes place on your device; no document content is sent to us. No account, registration or licence key is required, and there is nothing to pay.
Optional AI and OCR features use third-party model files that you choose to download or import. Each model is subject to its own licence, listed in the application’s third-party notices and on the Models and setup page.
3. Your responsibilities
- You are responsible for making sure your use of the Software complies with the law that applies to you, including data protection law and professional secrecy obligations.
- Automated detection can miss personal data and can flag text that is not personal data. You are responsible for reviewing the results and checking every exported document before you share or file it.
4. Licence and intellectual property
The MIT License lets you use, copy, modify, merge, publish, distribute, sublicense and sell copies of the Software, provided the copyright notice and permission notice are included. Third-party components are covered by their own licences, reproduced in ATTRIBUTION.txt.
5. No warranty
THE SOFTWARE IS PROVIDED “AS IS”, WITHOUT WARRANTY OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO THE WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. We do not guarantee that all personal data will be detected or that the Software will be free of errors.
6. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Santacroce SL is not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for any loss of profits, data or business, arising from the use of or inability to use the Software.
7. Professional services
Santacroce SL may offer separate services, such as help deploying Qvault within an organisation. Those services are governed by separate written agreements. Contact info@santacroce.es.
